Marsh is seeking candidates for the Placement Specialist position in our Seattle, Houston, New York City, or Chicago office. This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days a week in the office.
About the role
- Builds and maintains relationships with underwriters, involved in the placement of sophisticated insurance programs.
- Helps identify the need for new products and develops innovative solutions for clients.
- Completes policy management activities, delivers reviewed policies to clients, and addresses client inquiries.
- Delivers technical expertise in the delivery and presentation of marine portions of RFPs.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor the insured’s placement strategy using risk expertise and industry knowledge to develop solutions for complex client needs.
- Develop go-to-market strategies and provide input on pricing to support client retention and new business production.
- Guide strong working relations with carriers and underwriters to create innovative approaches for unique client needs.
- Audit and finalize commission structures with underwriters in accordance with client direction and Marsh agreements.
- Achieve a thorough understanding of changing insurance and risk market conditions, informing client teams, clients, and carriers of major developments.
- Contribute advanced knowledge to the firm’s product lines through active participation in internal networks.
- Devise new products and innovative solutions addressing complex client needs.
- Lead complex placement and technical support activities on large accounts, ensuring procedural compliance and contract execution.
- Consult management on highly complex client issues or trends through clear communication.
- Develop strong working relations with carriers and underwriters, submit coverage specifications, obtain quotes, and ensure coverage is bound accurately.
- Analyze quotes from carriers and provide recommendations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of industry experience.
- Commercial Brokerage and/or Underwriting experience, preferably in marine lines of coverage.
- P&C license required, or ability to obtain.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Pay
The applicable base salary range for this role is $92,500 to $197,100. The base pay offered will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. This position may also be eligible for performance-based incentives.
Schedule
Hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in the office. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week for in-person collaboration.
