About the role
The Pit Boss is responsible for overseeing all food smoking and food preparation activities at Massanutten Resort. Duties are assigned by the General Manager and Executive Chef.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all food smoking and food preparation activities
- Assign duties as directed by the General Manager and Executive Chef
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry standards
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management
- Manage inventory and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area
- Prepare and maintain detailed records of food preparation and smoking processes
Requirements
- Experience with or knowledge of barbecue methods, with prior experience working with a commercial smoker preferred
- In-depth understanding of smoking and barbecuing methods
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Industry-specific strategic and analytical knowledge
- Proficient culinary skills
- Proficient computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and database applications)
- Serve Safe certification
- At least 21 years old
Preferred
- One-year of smoking experience
- Serve Safe certification
