Piping Superintendent
Job Summary
Leads field execution of underground piping installation including fuel gas, firewater, service water, demin water, sanitary, wastewater, and utility piping systems. Responsible for coordinating construction activities, subcontractors, testing, reinstatement, and interfaces with civil, electrical, and mechanical disciplines to deliver underground systems safely and on schedule.
Major Responsibilities
- Maintains and organizes subcontractor activities through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.
- Serves as a liaison between subcontractors, design engineers, and other project stakeholders.
- Coordinates construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
- Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
- Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
- Required Knowledge And Skills:
- Experience supervising underground utility piping construction.
- Strong knowledge of buried piping systems and installation methods.
- Understanding of trenching, backfill, testing, and reinstatement activities.
- Experience coordinating with civil, electrical, and mechanical construction teams.
- Knowledge of hydrotesting, flushing, and mechanical completion processes.
- Strong leadership, planning, and field coordination skills.
- Ability to manage subcontractors and multiple work fronts.
- Industrial or power generation project experience preferred.
