The position would be based out of our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office. Our Piping Engineer role provides you the opportunity to work on the design of state-of-the-art industrial facilities. You will be part of a team working on projects that make our clients successful today, while helping them develop and capitalize on emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical/piping engineering under the direction and supervision of a senior project manager
  • Coordinate the design and drafting of piping discipline tasks for a given project
  • Monitor the progress of the work and the performance of the design team
  • Meet with clients locally
  • Knowledge of procedures and technical concepts within the piping discipline and the ability to navigate and apply relevant codes to piping design projects
  • Perform piping systems concept development
  • Generate piping design calculations including equipment sizing and pipe sizing calculations
  • Create P&ID’s and Block Flow Diagrams
  • Perform equipment selections
  • Generate specifications for systems and equipment
  • Coordinate and collaborate with project team members, contractors, clients and other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical and process to develop designs
  • Perform static pipe stress analysis
  • Check drawings developed by project team members
  • Lead a design team within the piping discipline and take responsibility for their portion of the discipline's scope, schedule and budget
  • Support work for/in other offices and other countries which may include travel
  • Organize work and delegate work to others
  • Work not only independently, but also as part of a design team consisting of local and remote team members
  • Experience checking and performing quality assurance reviews of drawings completed by junior engineers and designers
  • Formulate design criteria to be used in the development of project design specifications and drawings
  • Mentor junior staff

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years’ experience in piping design for industrial and commercial facilities
  • Strong written and verbal skill set
  • Ability to perform field/site visits which may include the need to climb ladders
  • Ability to travel (estimated travel time is 10%)
  • Adaptability to work within a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines
  • Ability to follow and lead a building mechanical team on a project and to collaborate with other discipline team members remotely

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering License

Skills

  • Software experience in Revit, Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Pipe-FLO

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $102,900.00 to $170,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
