About the Role
The Piping Designer is responsible for performing routine design of less complex assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This role assists in the design of larger and more complex mechanical/piping assignments and works under general supervision in the Beaumont office.
Responsibilities
- Utilize department design and drafting standards.
- Understand project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.
- Develop piping drawings from sketches and engineering information.
- Assist in field design work to assess current conditions, locate new systems, communicate with client personnel, and support construction.
- Prepare material take-offs from piping drawings.
- Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly.
- Provide on-site assistance during startup.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- 2+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical or piping drafting and design.
Skills
- Knowledge and application of piping materials in drafting.
- Drafting of utility and process piping drawings, P&IDs, and GA’s.
- Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
- Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in virtual teams.
