About the role

We’re currently looking for a Piper AA at our Huhtamaki Plant in Waterville, Maine. You should be within reasonable commuting distance from the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Confer with supervisor at the start of each shift to determine work priorities.
  • Receive instructions, blueprints, and work orders for the job.
  • Develop working procedure for the job, including material requirements, scaffolding, and other equipment needed.
  • Calculate dimensions and bends required for piping.
  • Install, bend, cut, thread, weld, and fabricate piping to job-specific requirements.
  • Inspect and maintain facility piping systems, heating, refrigeration, air conditioning systems, water treatment, sewer systems, burners, and heaters.
  • Set up and operate bending, threading, and cutoff equipment.
  • Install insulation and pipe covering; remove and dispose of old coverings in compliance with company hazardous waste procedures and EPA/OSHA requirements.
  • Perform hydraulic pressure tests of piping installations.
  • Check and adjust controls, gauges, and valves to regulate flow and pressure.
  • Notify supervision of potentially dangerous piping systems and document corrective actions taken.

Requirements

  • Technical 2-year associate degree and/or 5 years as a pipefitter in an industrial facility.
  • Manual dexterity skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Satisfactory work records, including attendance.
  • Ability to pass Huhtamaki’s hands-on pipefitter test.

Physical Requirements

  • Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Physical ability to perform work requiring frequent stooping, standing, squatting, bending, crawling, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
