About the role
Pipeline Operator is responsible for maintaining and repairing pipelines, compression and measurement facilities. Key duties include managing pigging operations, inspecting facilities, directing teams, and responding to emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Maintain scheduled pigging operations, launcher/receiver maintenance, and equipment inventory.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair facilities as assigned, including pipelines, compression, and measurement facilities.
- On-call responsibility for areas of responsibility as needed.
- Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements and document required regulatory activities.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize assigned responsibilities and assign tasks to others.
- Work independently as liaison between Summit Midstream and external entities.
- Operate and assist in maintenance activities at compressor facilities.
- Perform pipeline patrols and inspections, coordinating activities with other crews.
- Utilize hand tools for valve removal and riser location, and understand lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Manage activities with a focus on safety and compliance, including emergency shutdowns and operations control center protocols.
- Perform integrity management and regulatory tasks on natural gas pipelines.
- Monitor pipeline activity and respond to emergencies, performing cleanup as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 to 5 years of general pipeline experience in the natural gas industry or related experience.
- Proven knowledge and experience with line location equipment and techniques.
- Ability to read and utilize drawings, schematics, alignment sheets.
- Proven knowledge and understanding of pipeline pigging procedures, pressure surveys, and natural gas quality monitoring.
- Experience directing employees and following up on task completion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to operate off-road vehicles safely.
- On-call responsibility for areas as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be physically capable of above-average mobility, lifting up to 50 lbs., and applying up to 100 ft. lbs. of torque.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and perform heavy physical labor.
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment.

Pay
$39.50 to $47.69 per hour.
