About the role
The Pipeline Engineer is responsible for the design of high-pressure steel natural gas pipelines for the Feeder-Line Replacement program.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and design support for pipeline routing and layout
- Determine block and tap valve placement
- Design pipeline crossings for rivers, interstates, and highways using open dig or trenchless construction methods
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and best practices
- Perform engineering analyses of pipeline stress from: internal pressure, external loads, thermal expansion, soil loads, seismic effects, etc.
- Specify pipe materials and coatings
- Procure materials
- Prepare and submit engineering documentation (including calculations, forms, and checklists)
- Track project schedules and monitor budgets
- Develop pressure test procedures
- Support commissioning activities
Requirements
- Knowledge of and ensuring compliance with industry codes, standards, and best practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in mechanical or civil engineering
- 4–7 years of relevant experience
- Foundational understanding of high-pressure steel pipeline materials and construction practices
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, communication tools, and engineering analysis software
