Pipeline Engineer II

About the role

The Pipeline Engineer is responsible for the design of high-pressure steel natural gas pipelines for the Feeder-Line Replacement program.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and design support for pipeline routing and layout
• Determine block and tap valve placement
• Design pipeline crossings for rivers, interstates, and highways using open dig or trenchless construction methods
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and best practices
• Perform engineering analyses of pipeline stress from: internal pressure, external loads, thermal expansion, soil loads, seismic effects, etc.
• Specify pipe materials and coatings
• Procure materials
• Prepare and submit engineering documentation (including calculations, forms, and checklists)
• Track project schedules and monitor budgets
• Develop pressure test procedures
• Support commissioning activities

Requirements

• Knowledge of and ensuring compliance with industry codes, standards, and best practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in mechanical or civil engineering
• 4–7 years of relevant experience
• Foundational understanding of high-pressure steel pipeline materials and construction practices
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, communication tools, and engineering analysis software
