About the Role
An Industrial Pipe Fitter will assemble, layout, install, and maintain pipe systems on steam, fluid, or gas systems. These systems may include pipe, flanges, supports, valves, gauges, hangars, and angles. Work may occur in various environments, including buildings, outdoor sites, inside structures such as tanks or boilers, underground excavations, and at heights up to 300 feet.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as an Industrial Pipe Fitter or Pipe Fitter Helper.
- Ability to read prints and demonstrate thorough knowledge of pipe fitting procedures and skills.
- Good leadership and communication skills.
- Experience on an industrial construction project.
- Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance history.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, manufacturers' manuals, and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of pipe fitting processes for industrial piping and boiler components in combined-cycle power plants.
- Good problem-solving abilities and manual dexterity.
- Strong reading comprehension.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to safety rules and regulations, and Zachry values.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Zachry ROF’ed employee or former Zachry employee.
- NCCER Certification as an Industrial Pipe Fitter.
- Formal/technical education.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
- Identify all tools required for tasks and safety risks, including precautions to eliminate those risks.
- Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications.
- Install valves, hangars, supports, and flanges within piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications.
- Perform tests to ensure the quality of the pipe and piping systems.
- Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
- Work closely with and occasionally oversee helper and labor positions, exercising positional and expertise authority.

Physical Requirements
- Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
- Communicate through talking and hearing.
- Demonstrate good dexterity with hands and fingers for precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms, including heights up to 300 feet with proper fall protection.
- Utilize vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, distinguish colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
- Work outside in various elements, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind, for long periods up to 12 hours a day.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
