About the role

Install, modify, and repair new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment, including steam heating, steam generation, hydraulic systems, flash and expansion tanks, condensate, vacuum, and circulating pumps, and radiators. Operate forklifts up to 15,000-pound capacity and motor vehicles up to 5-ton capacity.

Responsibilities

• Lay out work and measure to locate position of pipe from drawings or written specifications.
• Cut various sizes of pipe to correct lengths with chisel and hammer, oxyacetylene torch, or pipe-cutting machines; thread pipe with stocks and dies.
• Bend pipe by hand-driven or power-driven machines.
• Assemble pipe with couplings and fasten pipe to hangers.
• Make standard shop computations relating to pressures, flow, and size of pipe required; perform standard tests to determine whether finished pipes meet specifications.
• Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment

• Shop environment with loud, noisy mechanical equipment and exposed moving components.
• Must stand and bend for long periods; push and test vehicles and heavy objects.
• Routine lifting up to 50 pounds; regular handling, grasping, kneeling, and carrying.
• Constant use of vision and mental alertness.
• Occasional use of safety glasses and hearing protection required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman-level pipefitter license (TX or AR) with a minimum of four years of experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (U.S. citizenship required).
• Passing a pre-employment drug screen and government background check.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Registration with the United States Selective Service (for access to Red River Army Depot).

Pay

$24.15 per hour. The compensation range or hourly rate listed is a good-faith estimate at the time of posting; actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
