Overview of Primary Duties

  • Assists Journeyman by performing the simpler and more routine duties of the craft.
  • Follow detailed instructions on new work assignments.
  • Closely reviews work while tasks are being learned.
  • Assist with laying out, fabricates, assembles, installs and maintains piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and production and processing systems.

Qualifications

  • Level IV: Thirty-six (36) + months of heavy industrial-related pipefitting experience
  • Other verified experiences or certifications with pipefitting experience
  • Level III: Twenty-four (24) to thirty-five (35) months of heavy industrial-related pipefitting experience
  • Level II: Twelve (12) to twenty-three (23) months of heavy industrial-related pipefitting experience
  • Level I: Zero (0) to eleven (11) months of heavy industrial-related pipefitting experience
  • One (1) year of industrial experience

About the Role

A Pipefitter Helper will assist the Journeyman Pipefitter to fabricate pipe. Also, is able to identify and assist in the installation of above/underground piping, hangers, supports, valves, and heavy wall specialties.

Requirements

Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation

Personal hand tools required for craft as established on the Yates Industrial Minimum Tool List

Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights

Physical Demands/Essential Job Functions

  • All weather conditions at varying temperatures
  • Work at varying elevations
  • Will work in windy and dusty environments
  • Moderate to high noise levels
  • The project site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools
  • Ability to hear bells, whistles, and alarms
  • Required to wear safety-approved body harnesses when working at 4 or above
  • Required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting
  • Ability to talk and hear to communicate
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision
