Pipefitter Helper
About the role
Plan, lay‑out and perform all types of pipe fitting and fabrication work in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. Must be able to take direction from a higher‑skilled worker or foreman.
Responsibilities
- Continually seek opportunities to share knowledge and teach others.
- Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
- Maintain high proficiency in all related trade mathematics.
- Inspect subordinates’ work, ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications, explain deficiencies and take corrective action.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in tasks, methods, and means, and be willing to learn from others.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all crew members.
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Produce high‑quality work safely and productively at all times.
- Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment and information are available for the work.
Requirements
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards, and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.
- Minimum experience:
- Level I – 3 years
- Level II – 4 years
- Level III – 5 years
- Senior – 6+ years
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements
- Wear required personal protective equipment (steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.).
- Frequent reaching above shoulder height and below the waist.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, or bending.
- Limited use of telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices for communication.
- Movement in confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
- Frequent use of hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects.
- Climbing and maintaining balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 lb.
- Ability to work up to a 12‑hour shift in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.

This position is designated as Safety‑Sensitive because the duties could affect the safety and health of the employee or others, including operating vehicles, equipment, machinery, power tools, handling hazardous or flammable materials, and related tasks.
