Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks a Pipefitter Foreman for a project in Durham, NC. Benefits and Paid Time Off are available after a 3-month employment period.
Responsibilities
- Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
- Fastens steel members to cable of hoist, using chain, cable, or rope.
- Signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member.
- Guides member, using tag line (rope).
- Pulls, pushes, or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device.
- Forces members into final position, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools.
- Aligns holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member by drifting drift pins or handle of wrench through holes.
- Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members, using plumb bob and level.
- Bolts aligned members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place.
- Alters steel members as needed.
- Detects, recognizes, and responds to dangerous conditions or situations.
- Performs safety inspections of work area, equipment, and tools to ensure compliance with government regulations, customer requirements, and SIC’s safety program; resolves discrepancies.
- Completes all Safety and general job training as required by SIC.
- Observes SIC/Client Safety processes and procedures at all times.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
Physical Demands
- May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas.
- Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms, and other job-related noises.
- Must be able to safely access all areas of property and buildings.
- Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment.
- Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
- Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
- Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working on ladders, and in awkward body positions.
Work Environment
Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, freezers, and warehouses, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
