About the role
The Team Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD) is an engineering/construction company based in Katy, TX, specializing in the natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical industries. Part of the Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) organization, OPD offers a wide range of services including engineering, procurement, and construction under one roof, enhancing efficiency and reducing interface issues.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and take measurements
- Draw isometrics and install piping efficiently
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure for welding
- Distinguish and work with various metal materials
- Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and equipment
- Weld small areas according to client requirements
- Operate tools and equipment such as beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw-Zall
- Participate in safety meetings and follow safety policies
- Work in various weather and environmental conditions
- Lift and carry up to 60 lbs, stand for up to 12 hours, and perform tasks requiring significant arm, leg, and body movement
- Work on elevated platforms and wear an approved full-body harness and lanyard
- Handle, control, and feel objects and tools with hands
Qualifications
- At least 1.5 years of experience as a pipefitter
- Travel is a must with extended periods away from home in remote areas
- Willing and able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week
- Willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job
- Able to attend mandatory safety meetings
- Ability to be a safety role model

- Previous experience in a gas plant construction environment
- 3 years of experience as a pipefitter
