Pipe Welder - Weekend Shift

About the Role

Welding on various materials at required positions using different welding processes, including GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and SAW to create piping as designed. Pipe Welders will perform pipe work as needed, though it may not be required daily. The supervisor will assess shop needs and assign tasks accordingly.

Performs work associated with the installation, calibration, and operation of production machines, including testing and inspecting machines for safe and efficient operation, routine maintenance, and fixing standard malfunctions.

Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation. Ensures produced items pass quality control tests.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, fit, and weld various piping and structural components, including pipes, flanges, fittings, valves, piping supports, structural plates, and beams, in accordance with supplied piping/structural fabrication drawings.
• Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
• Adjust valves, gauges, and flames as needed; safely handle compressed gas and oxygen cylinders.
• Operate air arc, gouger, grinder, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
• Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and all other Safety, Health, and Environmental processes.
• Complete required documentation, electronic or paper, for all work performed.
• Adhere to established safety and quality procedures; maintain a clean work area and practice general housekeeping standards.
• Perform tasks to ISO standards and requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., mixing paint or insulating a tank).

Requirements

• Pipe welding certification.
• Ability to perform welding on various materials at required positions using processes such as GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and SAW.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of related experience.
• Basic math skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects (regularly up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds).
• Proven ability to identify and solve basic to moderate-level problems.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekend hours as needed.
• Experience using blueprints and design sketches.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with ISO procedures.
• Knowledge or experience working with Chart products.

Schedule

Work shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
First shift: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires close vision abilities.

Work Environment: The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Loud noise level in the work environment.
