About the role
Loenbro is looking for experienced Pipe Welders to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in welding to complete jobs for customers on time and on budget. This position will plan, lay-out, weld, install, evaluate, and repair all types of steel structures and piping in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding on new construction and maintenance-repairs on industrial projects.
- Supervise and train welder helpers.
- Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications, and plan, lay-out, install, and/or repair all types of structures in accordance with those plans and specifications.
- Examine and inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures that arise or may occur. Take corrective actions as needed.
- Carefully choose filler metals and construction material to complete assignments.
Requirements
- Prior welding experience in construction, mining, or related industry OR a two-year vocational-technical degree preferred.
- Proficient in the properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and various welding techniques.
- Experience with welding processes: SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW. Other processes utilized are Oxy-Fuel Welding and Cutting.
- Working knowledge of various welding codes and specifications.
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
- Must be able and willing to follow all safety rules and regulations.
- High school degree or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade apprenticeship required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Outside most of the time, with potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures.
- Limited working surfaces and exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors.
- Exposure to areas with limited visibility.
- Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to access trenches and elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights).
- Lifting necessary equipment and materials (1-50 pounds) 50% of the time monthly for required tasks.
- If driving is required, valid driver license and proof of insurability are required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
- Compliance with all applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Loenbro's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies.
