Pipe Foreman (water, sewer, storm utilities)
About the role
Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Pipe Foreman to lead and develop pipe crews on heavy civil construction projects throughout our service area. This role is responsible for planning daily work, leading crews, maintaining production, and ensuring underground utility installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
What You'll Do
- Crew Leadership & Production
- Lead a pipe crew in the installation of storm, sanitary sewer, and water utility systems.
- Plan daily work activities and communicate expectations clearly to crew members.
- Cookordination with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure labor, equipment, and materials are available.
- Maintain a productive, organized, and efficient jobsite.
- Technical & Quality Oversight
- Ensure proper installation of underground utilities including RCP, PVC, Ductile Iron, HDPE, and related pipe materials.
- Read and interpret construction plans, grades, elevations, and specifications.
- Set and operate lasers for grade and alignment verification.
- Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance.
- Complete daily production reporting and timecard documentation.
- Safety & Team Development
- Lead by example and promote Petticoat-Schmitt's commitment to safety.
- Identify, report, and correct jobsite hazards immediately.
- Mentor Hillmen, Tailmen, and Pipelayers to strengthen technical skills and accountability.
- Foster a positive team culture built around Accountability, Character, and Teamwork.
What We're Looking For
- Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3–5 years of underground utility installation experience.
- Previous experience leading a pipe crew or serving as a Lead Pipelayer or Foreman preferred.
- Strong understanding of trench safety, utility installation, compaction, and grade control.
- Proficient in reading construction plans and operating construction lasers.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in trenches up to 20–30 feet below grade.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely work around heavy construction equipment.

Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Overtime and occasional Saturdays as project needs require.
