Pipe Fitter - Commercial Construction

About the role

Performs installation and assembly of piping systems for commercial construction projects, including mechanical rooms, office buildings, healthcare facilities, schools, and other large-scale commercial facilities.

Responsibilities

• Measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, brazing, and fitting piping for mechanical, hydronic, domestic, and other building systems
• Interprets sketches, blue prints and isometric drawings
• Cleans, bevels, prepares and installs pipe with various fittings and weld joints
• Performs layout, rigging and transportation of pipe, valves and fittings
• Installs pipe and related materials and equipment
• Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions
• Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers
• Cuts pipe using pipe cutter, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine
• Threads pipe using threading machine
• Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools
• Tests piping systems
• Loads, transports and unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies
• Assists in lifting, positioning and securing of material and work pieces during installation
• Maintains tools and equipment
• Relies on pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required 3-5 years' experience as a pipe fitter; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
