Airbus Helicopters, Inc. (AHI) is seeking a skilled Pilot to join our Flight Operations team in Grand Prairie, TX. This role involves delivering ground school instruction, advanced flight training, and conducting production test flights, ferry missions, and customer demonstrations.

About the Role

As the face of AHI training, you will spend 75% of your time on classroom instruction, 20% on flight training, and 5% on administrative duties. This high-visibility position supports customer personnel, ensures compliance with FAA regulations, and contributes to global pilot training standards.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom Instruction (75%):
    • Deliver ground and flight instruction to customer personnel.
    • Update flight manuals and screen service bulletins to maintain training courseware.
    • Set up classrooms and training resource materials.
  • Aircraft Flight (20%):
    • Perform flight training as an instructor pilot for transition and recurrent students in Airbus helicopters.
    • Train and evaluate maneuvers, including normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures.
    • Familiarize yourself with new or modified aircraft systems, instrumentation, or equipment.
    • Prepare monthly flight logs, pre-flight and post-flight documentation, and reports on significant occurrences.
    • Coordinate flight results with Quality Assurance, Flight Line, and Flight Operations personnel.
    • Conduct demonstration flights for potential customers to support marketing efforts.
    • Support other Flight Operations missions, such as customer deliveries, demonstrations, and ferry flights.
  • Administrative Duties (5%):
    • Assist customers with flight-related maintenance and performance questions.
    • Prepare daily risk assessments and flight plans.
    • Participate in global workshops to set pilot training standards as the voice of AHI and North American customer needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of flight experience.
  • Minimum of 2,000 Pilot-In-Command hours in helicopters (at least 500 hours in turbine-powered helicopters).
  • 100 or more hours of flight experience in the last 12 calendar months.
  • FAA First or Second Class Medical Certificate, Commercial helicopter license, IFR rating, and Certified Flight Instructor rating-helicopter (CFI).
  • Ability to operate company aircraft and maintain required FAA certificates and medical requirements.
  • Ability to compose written documentation and interpret technical drawings, data, and specifications.
  • Ability to conduct flight training at night.
  • Willingness to work with translators in the classroom and cockpit.
  • Must be a U.S. Person or authorized to work in the U.S.
  • 30% domestic and international travel required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or higher.
  • Flight time in Airbus helicopters.
  • 1,000 hours of multi-engine time in helicopters.
  • Experience with night vision goggles.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certification.
  • Certified Instrument Flight Instructor - rotorcraft helicopter (CFII).

Physical Requirements

  • Onsite: 70% in Grand Prairie, TX, except when traveling.
  • Vision: Ability to see and read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Ability to participate in conversations in person, via teleconference or phone, and hear safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: Ability to speak in conversations, meetings, and communications.
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to operate office equipment (e.g., computers, telephones, copiers) and production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts).
  • Carrying: Ability to carry documents, tools, and equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, kneel, push, and pull as required for office and production floor tasks.
  • Travel: Ability to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Standard PPE includes flight suit, gloves, boots, and company-issued flight helmet. Additional PPE may be required, such as safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, or protective gloves.
