About the Role

Responsible for providing and transporting supplies, materials, and equipment, as well as cleaning the Emergency Department and its equipment. Assists with the general needs of patients. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean and orderly environment.
• Orders and stores equipment, supplies, and unit stock.
• Transports food, supplies, and equipment.
• Performs other job functions as needed.
• Understands and applies transfer techniques and body mechanics.
• Enters supply orders and charges into the computer system.
• Performs patient care services and environmental services procedures.

Requirements

• Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Preferred: No prior work experience.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.

Skills

• Understanding of transfer techniques and body mechanics.
• Proficiency in entering supply orders and charges into a computer system.
• Ability to perform patient care and environmental services procedures.

Physical Demands

The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination.

• Medium work: exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
• Close visual acuity, including color, depth perception, and field of vision, is required for activities such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, or extensive reading.
• Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
• Exposure to patient body fluids as well as hazardous or poisonous materials.
• Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
