About the Role
This position focuses on the education of current staff and orientation of new staff to the pediatric ICU. The role includes auditing responsibilities and is part of the leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Educate current staff and orient new staff in the pediatric ICU.
- Conduct audits as part of leadership responsibilities.
- Create a collegial and collaborative environment among all members of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrate effective leadership, teaching, research, and communication skills.
- Utilize problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Coach and mentor staff.
- Research and develop specialty-specific practice standards and communicate them to staff.
- Identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Improve job performance through continuing education.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required); Master's degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Current New York State Registered Nurse registration or eligibility for licensure in New York State.
- Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge in the specialty area.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as outlined in the attached annual competency assessment.

Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to probe, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and speak and hear.

- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- May be subject to infectious materials and chemicals (see unit-specific MSDS information).
- The majority of work must be performed on-site; remote work is not feasible for this role.
Pay
Salary Range: $94,957.00 - $147,183.00
