About the role
This position involves leading music and other arts programs within the corps, planning and attending recitals, and assisting with summer camps.
Responsibilities
- Lead music and other arts programs as assigned within the corps.
- Plan and implement weekly music lessons using appropriate curriculum.
- Prepare music programs for corps concerts at the end of each school year.
- Encourage participants to achieve goals and develop musical abilities.
- Facilitate the involvement of participants in positive activities and community events.
- Aid in planning summer camps and music day camps.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
- Experience: At least two years of music experience working with children and adults.
- Performance experience is preferred.
- Certifications/Licenses: None required.
Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and flexibility in changing job situations.
- Ability to support and promote The Salvation Army's mission.
Qualifications
- Personal knowledge of music, including performance, education, and theory.

Physical Requirements
- Regular use of instruments and equipment for a music program.
- Frequent use of standard office equipment and a PC.
- Light physical work periodically.
Travel
- Occasional travel may be required.
Driving
- Required to drive a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
- Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program.
Working Conditions
- Moderate to high noise level in a program environment.
