About the role
This position involves leading music and other arts programs within the corps, planning and implementing curriculum, and assisting with various events and activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead music and arts programs as assigned within the corps.
- Plan and implement weekly music lessons for assigned classes.
- Attend and plan all recitals at the corps and prepare music programs for the annual concert.
- Encourage participants to achieve goals and develop musical abilities.
- Help ensure music performances and activities enhance the corps' presence in the community.
- Assist with summer camps to encourage participants to develop further talents and make spiritual decisions.
- Participate in planning and supporting summer music day camps.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
- Experience: At least two years of music experience working with children and adults.
- Performance experience is preferred.
- Certifications/Licenses: None required.
Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to be a team player and flexible in changing job situations.
- A positive attitude and commitment to support and promote The Salvation Army's mission.
Physical Requirements
- Periodically required to use instruments and equipment needed in a music program.
- Frequent use of standard office equipment and a PC.
- Light physical work required.
Travel
- Occasional travel may be required.
Driving
- Driving is required; must possess a valid driver's license and be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program.
Working Conditions
- Moderate to high noise level in a program environment.
