About the role
This position involves leading music and other arts programs within the corps, planning and implementing curriculum, and assisting with various events and activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead music and other arts programs as assigned within the corps.
- Plan and implement weekly music lessons for assigned classes.
- Attend and prepare for all corps recitals and music programs for the end-of-year concert.
- Encourage participants to achieve goals and develop musical abilities.
- Help plan summer camps to enhance participants' talents and spiritual growth.
- Assist with organizing and participating in summer music day camps.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
- Experience: At least two years of music experience working with children and adults.
- Performance experience is preferred.
- Certifications/Licenses: None required.
Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and flexibility.
- A strong commitment to The Salvation Army's mission.
Qualifications
- Personal knowledge of music, including performance, education, and theory.
- Ability to work in a program environment with moderate to high noise levels.
- Regular use of standard office equipment and a PC.
- Driving is required; must have a valid driver's license and be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program.
