Company DescriptionThe North American Center for African Performing Arts (NACAPA) is a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving, presenting, and advancing African performing arts. The NACAPA Choir is its founding community choir.Role DescriptionNACAPA Choir is seeking a paid, part-time Piano Accompanist/Collaborative Pianist to support approximately two Saturday rehearsals per month in Los Angeles, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.Responsibilities include accompanying rehearsals, following the conductor, playing vocal parts as needed, and preparing assigned repertoire provided in advance.Compensation$150 per rehearsal. Performances and additional rehearsals will be scheduled and compensated separately.QualificationsStrong piano and sight-reading skillsExperience accompanying choirs or vocal ensemblesAbility to read choral scores (open and condensed) and play individual voice partsDependability, punctuality, and strong collaborative skillsInterest in African and African diasporic choral musicTo apply, send a résumé, your availability, and a performance sample if available to choir@nacapa.org.
