Physics Teacher

About the Role

Teaching staff members instruct children in accordance with the curriculum and program of study adopted by the Board of Education. The teacher ensures student learning by engaging students with authentic challenges that allow for assessment measuring growth and informing future instruction. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, this role develops students' skills and competence in one or more fields of science, including general science, earth science, biology, physiology, chemistry, and physics. The position focuses on scientific methods, problem-solving, and the application of science to practical problems.

Responsibilities

• Uphold and enforce school, administrative, board, and state rules, regulations, and policies.
• Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
• Assume responsibility for the condition of assigned room(s), equipment, and materials.
• Communicate with parents and school personnel to discuss pupil progress under the direction of the building principal.
• Maintain required records, complete reports, and handle routine assignments promptly.
• Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs as assigned.
• Maintain standards of pupil behavior to provide an orderly, productive school and classroom environment.
• Develop lesson plans and assist in selecting textbooks and instructional materials to adapt to the curriculum.
• Maintain professional development through in-service education, workshops, and self-selected growth activities.
• Attend school-related night activities when necessary and according to school policy.
• Maintain a safe school environment.
• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff to help pupils solve learning, social, and attitude problems.
• Promote satisfactory pupil progress and growth toward curriculum objectives.
• Group students for instructional purposes or activities to enhance performance and address individual needs.
• Perform other duties or responsibilities assigned by the building principal or central office administrators.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Appropriate certification and degrees to teach Physics and AP Physics.
• Proficiency in computer applications pertinent to the position.

Evaluation

Performance in this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the New Jersey Administrative Code and Board of Education Policy.
