Physics Teacher

About the role

Empowerment Academy Charter School is hiring a High School Physics Teacher for the upcoming 2026/2027 School Year and beyond. The position offers a competitive salary range of $70,500 - $90,500 with annual raises and a Critical Need Bonus of $7,500 for certified Science Teachers joining the team.

Responsibilities

• Teach high school physics courses, aligning with the school’s curriculum and standards.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, and provide feedback to improve understanding.
• Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities (PLCs) to enhance teaching strategies and address student needs.
• Work closely with reading and math specialists and counselors to support students’ academic and personal growth.
• Participate in school-wide professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices and innovative teaching methods.

Requirements

• Certified in "Physics" or Physical Science by the NJ DOE.
• Graduating in May with teacher certification is also acceptable.

• Strong background in physics or physical science.
• Experience in teaching high school level physics.
• Ability to engage and motivate diverse student populations.
• Passion for closing the achievement gap and providing quality education.

Pay

$70,500 - $90,500 base salary with competitive raises and a Critical Need Bonus of $7,500.

The schedule is standard for a high school teacher, including a full school year with summer breaks.
