Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Certification or eligible for certification by the Florida State Department of Education to teach in the State of Florida

Responsibilities

  • Works with administrators and instructional teams to plan and implement hands-on programs and activities for students and the school
  • Participates as an active member with other faculty and staff
  • Collaborates in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for school improvement
  • Manages classroom and supervises proper care of equipment
  • Engages in professional growth activities to acquire new skills and knowledge
  • Diagnoses and analyzes student progress to provide developmentally appropriate instruction
  • Uses a variety of instructional techniques to meet individual student needs
  • Integrates technology and current research into instruction
  • Evaluates students’ progress regularly
  • Applies classroom management techniques to maintain an effective learning environment
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to students, parents, and the community while promoting student self-esteem
  • Maintains professional relationships between school and parents through conferences, communications, and involvement in school activities
  • Maintains required records, including grade books, attendance, and student progress reports
  • Assists in protecting student and school property
  • Stays current with district technology and attends training as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal

ADA Compliance

  • Physical Ability: Tasks involve moderate physical effort, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Sensory Requirements: Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination; some require oral communication and sound discrimination.
  • Environmental Factors: Tasks are typically performed without exposure to adverse conditions, though some exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, odors, humidity, fumes, temperature variations, noise, machinery, traffic, animals, or pathogens may occur.

Reports to: School Principal

Performance evaluation conducted in accordance with the negotiated contract between the School Board of Orange County, Florida, and the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association.
