Physician - Thoracic Surgery (FT - BMH)

About the role

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery seek a General Thoracic Surgeon (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Butler, PA. Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania; travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill duties at these additional sites. The successful candidate joins a group of internationally renowned academic thoracic surgeons who are part of the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute and Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care as a General Thoracic Surgeon
• Perform minimally invasive lung and esophageal surgery
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows
• Participate in the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute and Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (or foreign educational equivalent)
• Eligibility for state medical license
• Completed general surgery residency program
• Completed cardiothoracic surgery fellowship program
• Board-certified or board-eligible in thoracic surgery
• All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment
