Job Summary
Drexel University is seeking a full-time outpatient faculty physician for the Drexel Student Health Center. The Student Health Center is located centrally on the Drexel University Campus and serves a population of 24,000 students. The position involves providing ambulatory primary care to students alongside a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
About the Role
This is a 3-year contract position with potential for extension. The role includes providing direct medical care, consulting with patients, ordering tests, prescribing treatments, coordinating with other healthcare professionals, and teaching medical students and family medicine residents.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct medical care in a primary care setting, including visits by appointment, walk-in, and telehealth services.
- Perform procedures and other special tasks based on skills and credentialing.
- Consult with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment.
- Recommend and order tests to determine the extent of illness or help diagnose conditions.
- Maintain and monitor lab results, medication adherence, and medication toxicities.
- Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccinations, and other medical care.
- Explain and discuss procedures, test results, or prescribed treatment with the patient.
- Coordinate work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other healthcare providers.
- Refer patients to medical specialists when necessary.
- Participate in quality improvement and other administrative activities.
- Create quality improvement and research projects as assigned and available.
- Provide emergency and ongoing medical treatment of students as appropriate within existing policy.
- Offer health-related outreach services to the campus community periodically.
Requirements
- A minimum of a M.D. or D.O.; completion of residency training in Family or Internal Medicine.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a clinical, outpatient setting.
- Ability to work 1 evening a week (until 7 pm) and 1 weekend per year.
Qualifications
Must have a valid medical license and DEA registration.

The offered salary is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
Schedule
This is a Full-Time Faculty position classified as Exempt. The position typically works Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
