About the role

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Physician Specialist (Option C) for the Madden Mental Health Center in Hines, Illinois. This position serves as a staff psychiatrist, clinically directing a caseload on an assigned inpatient pavilion and shift. The role ensures psychiatric treatment meets standards of care, evaluates assigned cases at intake, and provides clinical direction to direct care staff. Additional responsibilities include back-up coverage of other pavilions, participation in medical committees and program meetings, signing certificates for involuntary patient admissions, and testifying in court.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a staff psychiatrist for patients on an assigned inpatient pavilion.
• Provide treatment to a caseload of patients on the assigned pavilion and shift.
• Provide clinical direction to staff involved in direct care.
• Provide back-up coverage of other pavilions.
• Serve as a member of medical committees, pavilion and program meetings, case evaluation, audit, and utilization review committees to provide psychiatric expertise.
• Sign certificates for involuntary patient admissions and testify in court.
• Attend and participate in all mandatory training.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of professional experience evaluating the quality of specialized medical care and treatment for patients with mental illness.
• One (1) year of professional experience coordinating medical services with other professional disciplines and supportive personnel.
• One (1) year of professional experience conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of patients.
• One (1) year of professional experience identifying and implementing the most appropriate treatment options in accordance with best practices.
• One (1) year of professional experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
• One (1) year of professional experience preparing comprehensive and specialized medical records and reports.

Conditions of Employment

• Possession of a valid Illinois Controlled Substance License.
• Possession of a valid United States Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate of Registration.
• Must hold an Illinois License to Practice Medicine in Psychiatry & Neurology.

Pay

Anticipated salary: \$18,908 – \$25,340 per month (\$226,896 – \$304,080 per year).
