Physician (Section Chief Psychiatrist) Mental Health Service

About the role

A Psychiatrist within the Mental Health Service who performs duties as a Section Chief.

Responsibilities

• Provide for quality and safety of the care provided by the Section in MH Service.
• Identify important aspects of care and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of care using VHA performance measures.
• Maintain records of meetings and evaluations.
• Recommend clinical privileges and ensure ongoing professional practice evaluation.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the Section.
• Review and modify privilege templates as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Medical Degree from an LCME-accredited institution or an equivalent degree from an osteopathic medical school.
• Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
• Completion of residency training in an approved program leading to board certification.
• Ability to perform duties under normal and emergent conditions.
