Practice Description
The physicians and APPs are members of The Corewell Health Medical Group, a growing, physician-led, multispecialty practice. The genetics division includes a team of highly specialized biochemical and medical genetics physicians (7), a nurse practitioner (1), dietitians (3), genetic counselors (21), genetic counseling assistants (4), nurses, medical assistants, and other support staff. The group is dedicated to supporting the mission of Corewell Health including education, clinical services, research and other scholarly activity, and advocacy.
Qualifications
- Board eligible or board certified in Medical Genetics or Oncology
- Physician License (MD)/Osteopathic Physician (DO)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Leadership, Growth, Quality, Safety & Clinical Innovation
Developing people, quality, safety, and clinical innovation are key components of this role. This physician will work alongside genetic counselors with master's degrees in the specialty, a highly trained oncology team located within West Michigan, and collaborate with other genetics physicians.
Development of People
Supporting the development of people is a core responsibility of this role. This includes mentoring and training genetic counselors and other healthcare professionals to ensure they have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide the highest quality care.
Finance
This role involves managing the financial aspects of the genetics program, including budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Academic and Faculty Affairs
The Section Chief will be responsible for academic and faculty affairs, which includes participating in educational activities, publishing research, and engaging in professional development opportunities to maintain expertise in the field of medical genetics or oncology.
