Physician Referral Supervisor

Job Summary

The Physician Referral Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Physician Referral Center. The Supervisor is the main contact for issues in the center and responsible for their resolution. They also have responsibility for hiring, training, developing, and disciplining the Physician Referral Center Staff.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Physician Referral Center staff including prioritization of work, staff coverage amongst workgroups, and training and development for new and current employees
• Aids in the manager in human resources objectives, including hiring, transferring, developing, disciplining and termination of employees
• Reviews all incoming referrals and schedules appointments for various practices and specialties
• Communicates referral information and confirmation with patients and referring physician/office staff
• Proactively works with various insurance providers to pre-certify patient tests, therapies, appointments, etc. when required by managed care organizations
• Counsels patients on financial procedures regarding pre-certified tests, procedures, and appointments

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or Health Care related
• Minimum Experience: 5 years in a healthcare related field
• Computer literate
• Appropriate skills to interact with hospital employers and industry to provide services
• Skills in communicating clearly and effectively to achieve high production and efficiency
