Physician - Radiation Oncologist (EDRP Authorized)

About the role

The Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Full-Time Physician for Radiation Oncology within Diagnostic Imaging Service. The position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).

Responsibilities

• Works with and is supported by Radiation Oncology Service leadership.
• Provides direct clinical and administrative oversight for mid-level practitioners, physics, dosimetry, radiation therapists and other clinical staff as assigned.
• Works directly with Chief, Radiation Oncology Service to assist in ensuring adequate and appropriate staffing.
• Supports operations issues/problems resolution in a logical, stepwise fashion.
• Supports, contributes to and implements policies, procedures, performance goals, strategic plans, and initiatives.
• Promotes and strengthens the Medical Center's and VISN goals.
• Develops, maintains, and enhances relations with internal and external entities.
• Participates in Radiation Oncology Service strategic planning.
• Participates in local administrative, management, quality assurance, and other assignments, meetings, or committees.
• Provides direct patient care as a consultant in outpatient clinics and/or inpatient wards and will participate in the Radiation Oncology Service on call schedule.
• Participates in regular peer review activities.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Radiation Oncology.
