Physician (Primary Care Medical Director)
About the role
The position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Eligibility is contingent upon meeting specific requirements as outlined by VHA policy and submitting an EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and approve provider scheduling grids in compliance with Boise VA Medical Center (BVAMC) Primary Care Scheduling SOP
- Leverage multiple modalities of care including Video Connect Visits, telephone visits, secure messaging, and face-to-face visits
- Encourage appropriate nurse care manager and pharmacy visits to support access goals
- Approve clinic cancellations and leave in a timely manner
- Adequately cover clinic provider functions during provider leave and approve leave in a timely manner
- Approve premium pay requests in a timely manner
- Perform OPPEs on subordinates and FPPEs as necessary
- Meet with employees twice yearly and annually to review performance evaluations
- Counsel and support physicians in Pay for Performance initiatives and NP/PAs in their pursuit of Special Awards for Performance and step increases
- Collaborate with the Clinic Manager to ensure optimal team configuration and maintain PACT teamlet continuity and coverage
- Work with the Clinic Manager to address any issues and improve clinic operations
Requirements
Must have a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the United States. Must have completed residency training in an approved core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Must have 5 years of experience in primary care and 1 year of leadership experience.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree resulting from an allopathic or osteopathic medical course of education
- Completed residency training in an approved core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
- Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
- Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation
Skills
Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
