About the role
The mission of the VA Atlanta Healthcare System is to serve Veterans who have served us with excellence and compassion. It aims to establish the benchmark for outstanding, Veteran-centered healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary care services for a panel of 1250 patients.
- Perform exams according to performance guidelines and procedures and dictate/type notes according to policy/procedure.
- Report directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
- Screen outpatient to determine need for further care, evaluate unscheduled patients, order diagnostic studies, conduct health promotion and disease prevention activities, initiate and expedite requests for consultations, and schedule special tests and studies.
- May be on rotation to do extended hours once per month or less.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- One year of primary care experience providing comprehensive primary care, including the full scope of women's health services.
Qualifications
- Basic Requirements: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine; current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery; completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Preferred Experience: Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and/or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine; one year of primary care experience providing comprehensive primary care, including the full scope of women's health services.
