Physician Practice LPN

General Summary

Provides professional nursing care to patients within Physician’s Practice. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill are performed in accordance with practice policy, procedure and philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the ability to provide the following patient care services:
• Perform triage services for patients
• Prepare injections as required and according to treatment plans designed by the physician
• Review medication refills with patient via telephone. Ensure that the patient is periodically assessed in the office by the physician to determine therapeutic effect and patient compliance. Adjust patient medications as needed
• Absorb minor medical/surgical procedures in the practice setting
• Recognize abnormal lab results. Required to review lab reports with patients in the absence of the provider
• Cook further testing and evaluation with the physician
• Identify the need for patient education. Advise patients on their treatment plan; to include Diabetes and other chronic diseases
• Complete patient encounter form at the conclusion of each service performed
• Escort patient to the check-out station at the conclusion of each service
• Return patient phone calls regarding testing and/or treatment plan
• Maintain patient confidentiality; comply with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established for the practice
• Reflect knowledge of current professional practice standards, laws and regulations:
• Evaluate his/her own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards, relevant statutes and regulations
• Engage in an annual self-assessment, identifying areas of strength and areas requiring professional development
• Solicit and reflect on constructive feedback from other members of the healthcare team
• Takes action to achieve performance goals
• Acquire and maintain current knowledge and competency in nursing care:
• Participate in ongoing educational activities to acquire and validate knowledge i.e. CPR, CLIA training programs
• Seek experiences that reflect current clinical competencies and new clinical information
• Maintain professional affiliations
• Attend regularly scheduled staff meeting as required by the practice
• Perform all other tasks and projects assigned by the Practice Manager or Physician
• May be required to act as back-up for other members of the practice staff
• Interact with and contribute to the professional development of peers and other healthcare providers:
• Share knowledge, skills, and experience with colleagues and others
• Provide colleagues and peers with constructive feedback regarding their practice
• Contribute to a learning environment that is conducive to healthcare education
• Contribute to a team environment by working with others in a way that promotes and encourages each person's contribution

Requirements

• Becomes proficient and cross-trained in the front desk area to maintain the front desk as needed, including answering phones, filing, and other duties to keep the flow of the office moving
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED Certificate Program, Licensed Practical Nurse, Or equivalent credit hours in an RN program
• Credential(s): Licensed Practical Nurse, Basic Life Support (or ability to sit for on-site training)
• Experience: New graduate accepted. Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience: Education: NoneCredential(s): Advanced Cardiovascular Life SupportExperience: 2 or more years clinical nursing experience in a physician’s practice
