Physician, Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist

About the Role

The West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a BE/BC Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV, joining a growing Division of Pediatric Cardiology. This role supports the patient population at the Children's Hospital campus and throughout the state via a robust outreach program, including outreach clinics, telemedicine, and diagnostic testing.

The division includes specialists in general cardiology, advanced imaging (cardiac CT & MRI), interventional catheterization, noninvasive and invasive electrophysiology, fetal cardiology, adult congenital heart disease, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), cardio-obstetrics, and preventive cardiology. The program also features a robust Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery team, including complex neonatal repairs, adult congenital surgery, and ECMO, and is the only pediatric heart surgery program in the state. An ACGME-approved Pediatric Cardiology training program is in place.

Responsibilities

• Practice in all areas of Pediatric Interventional Cardiology, participating in both General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.
• Provide excellent patient care.
• Actively participate in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Depending on operational needs, may provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, with anticipated travel.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent.
• Eligible to obtain a state medical license.
• Board certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology.
• For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required.
• All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

About the Work Environment

WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital is a tertiary care center serving West Virginia, Western Maryland, Southwestern Pennsylvania, and Southeastern Ohio. The new 150-bed facility includes:

• A full suite of pediatric operating rooms.
• A cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff.
• 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 31 PICU beds, a Heart Institute, and a dedicated Cancer Institute.
• A Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center (with plans to become Level 1).
• A 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic.
• The only children’s hospital in the state with an epilepsy monitoring unit and Magnet status for nursing excellence.
