About the role

Bronson Pediatric Hematology and Oncology in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is actively seeking a dynamic Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist that is BC/BE in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Responsibilities

• Join three other established Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologists to provide both inpatient and outpatient care.
• Participate in a comprehensive regional hemophilia center providing care to all patients with bleeding disorders.
• Provide comprehensive care to patients with sickle cell disease in southwest Michigan.
• Be responsible for teaching of residents and medical students; academic affiliation is available through Western Michigan University Homer S. Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.
• Responsible for prescribing medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests in addition to counseling patients regarding preventive healthcare, hygiene, and diet.
• Assist in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations.

Requirements

• BC/BE Fellowship Trained in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
• Graduate from an ACGME accredited program.
• Current unrestricted or pending Licensure in the state of Michigan.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Medical degree and 2 years of direct or intern experience required.
• Current Medical License in the state of Michigan.
• Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration.
• Maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges.
• Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.

Skills

• Ability to diagnose illnesses and prescribe treatment.
• Experience in examining patients and obtaining medical histories.
• Proficiency in ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests.
• Ability to counsel patients regarding preventive healthcare, hygiene, and diet.
• Ability to make final medical judgments in all issues of health care.
• Ability to educate patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection.
• Ability to assist in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations.
