About the role

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University Department of Surgery are seeking a Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join the Division of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. Our team of four surgeons provides patient-centered care for children across the Southeast and beyond, leveraging the resources of one of the largest pediatric health systems in the country. Employment will be through the Emory + Children’s Pediatric Institute, an affiliation between Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta dedicated to outstanding clinical care, innovative research, and exceptional education.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate high-quality medical care for children and adolescents in the clinical area, with appropriate resource management.
• Provide patient care in compliance with Professional Staff Bylaws, rules, regulations, and Children’s policies and procedures.
• Incorporate Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
• Serve as a resource for patient, family, and staff education; educate and assist trainees with medical decision-making.
• Provide authenticated reports of all physician services rendered and maintain accurate, complete records.
• Complete necessary documentation and ensure timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
• Respond actively to patient and clinical staff questions and requests.
• Participate in meetings and activities required to support clinical operations.
• Engage in professional development activities; maintain certifications such as BLS, PALS, or NALS, and any additional specialty training as required.
• Perform other responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited four-year medical school.
• Graduate of an accredited post-graduate residency program in Surgery or Thoracic Surgery.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Thoracic Surgery.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
• Current BLS or PALS certification.
• Current DEA registration.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
• Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.
• Demonstrated skills in personal organization, time management, human relations, teamwork, adaptability, motivation, and listening.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the respective clinical area (Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery).
