About the Role
Functions as a physician performing the duties of an Obstetrician and Gynecologist. The physician provides comprehensive evidence-based care to a designated patient population, delivering OB/GYN services in both the medical office setting and hospital environments on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Accountable for quality measures that ensure excellence in personalized healthcare and maintains communication with referring physicians to support a continuum of care for all patients.
Responsibilities
- Practices Obstetrics and Gynecology incorporating established quality standards.
- Participates in the OB/GYN call schedule for Sonoran Crossing.
- Collaborates with Sonoran Crossing Administration and medical staff leadership to develop an OB/GYN clinic and identify opportunities to expand OB/GYN services.
- Develops treatment protocols, clinical pathways, quality standards, and best practices for outpatient OB/GYN services.
- Establishes standards for accepting patients into the OB/GYN clinic setting in coordination with departmental leadership.
- Actively engages in the Sonoran Crossing peer review process.
- Participates in regularly scheduled Medicine and other staff committees requiring collaboration within OB/GYN Services.
- Meets with consulting and referring community physicians to determine effective communication processes for continuity of care.
- Collaborates with the Medical Director to ensure fiscal accountability for the service.
- Builds positive rapport with community-based physicians, emergency department, intensive care units, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, respiratory therapy, and other service areas.
- Collaborates with Case Management and Clinical Documentation Specialists.
- Utilizes the Medical Director for guidance in difficult situations.
- Identifies new opportunities to expand Gastroenterology services in collaboration with administration and community physicians.
- Demonstrates complete understanding of and adherence to EMTALA regulations.
- Complies with all HonorHealth Medical Staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Adheres to documentation standards for all medical care rendered.
- Participates in and complies with all patient safety indicators.
- Participates in the recruitment and retention of physicians.
- Facilitates and supports the mentoring of other physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals.
- Creates a climate for professional practice with other disciplines.
- Supports the vision and values of the organization.
- Attends and participates in Departmental Committee meetings.
- Plans, coordinates, facilitates, and participates in educational programs dealing with OB/GYN care.
- Participates in CME planning for the Hospital under the direction of the Medical Director.
- Works with the Director of Medical Education and Medical Director of Academic Affairs to ensure appropriate teaching opportunities for residents and medical students.
- Participates in the education of nurses and other ancillary professionals.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited OB/GYN program (MD or DO).
- Board-certified or Board Eligible physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Qualifications
- Recent Obstetrical and Gynecology clinical experience (preferred).
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
