Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • United States Citizenship
  • Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine
  • Degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
  • Current - full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State - Territory - or Commonwealth of the United States - or in the District of Columbia
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training - approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification

Preferred Experience

  • Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Radiology and formal fellowship (or equivalent experience) in Nuclear Medicine

Physical Requirements

  • Use of fingers
  • Near vision correctable at 13"" to 16"" to Jaeger 1 to 4
  • Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other
  • Depth perception
  • Ability to distinguish basic colors
  • Ability to distinguish shades of color

Environmental Factors

  • Protracted or irregular hours of work

Duties

  • Oversee the CAVHS Nuclear Medicine department overall daily operation
  • Interpret and diagnose Nuclear Medicine imaging studies - including PET/CT
  • Perform Therapeutic Nuclear Medicine studies
  • Interprets CT and other general radiology examinations
  • Communicate results and provide recommendations to referring physicians and patients
  • Stay current on the latest developments and advancements in the field of Nuclear Medicine imaging
  • Maintain accurate medical records and document patient progress
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Oversee Nuclear Medicine Radiology Residents

Nuclear Medicine Radiologists

  • Specialize in using safe - traceable radioactive materials (radiopharmaceuticals) to diagnose - manage - and treat diseases
  • Position is located at the main facility in Little Rock - Arkansas
  • Reports to the Chief of Imaging service
  • Duties are but not limited to the following:
  • Oversee the CAVHS Nuclear Medicine department overall daily operation
