Essential Functions and Duties
- Examines, diagnoses, and provides a broad scope of musculoskeletal conditions and concussions including conservative care and treatment, acute care and elective surgical procedures.
- Performs patient examinations, obtains and records pertinent medical history, subjective, and objective findings.
- Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Administers and prescribes medications in compliance with state law and practice guidelines.
- Orders and performs appropriate medical and surgical procedures in accordance with State law and practice guidelines.
- Instructs patients and family regarding medications and treatments.
- Educates patients regarding health, illness prevention, and healing.
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information, documenting clearly and concisely.
- Triage patient telephone calls, providing consultation as needed.
- Communicates effectively with colleagues, patients, physicians, and administration.
- Maintains quality clinical practice by selecting appropriate avenues for professional growth.
Education
- Graduation from an accredited medical school.
- Successful completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine.
- Successful completion of an additional 12 months of full-time training in a Sports Medicine fellowship.
Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
- Oregon license as MD/DO.
- Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine, must have or be eligible for CAQ in sports medicine.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet SCHS driving requirements.
- Maintain unrestricted DEA number.
- Maintain unrestricted ability to participate in Medicare / Medicaid, or other federal or state governmental health care programs.
Experience
- Experience with concussion management and athletic team coverage.
Physical Requirements
- Continually (75% or more): Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.
- Frequently (50%): Sitting, standing, walking, lifting 1-10 pounds, keyboard operation.
- Occasionally (25%): Bending, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, carrying/pushing or pulling 1-10 pounds, grasping/squeezing.
- Rarely (10%): Stooping/kneeling/crouching, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 11-15 pounds, operation of a motor vehicle.
- Rarely (10%): Heat, cold, wet/slippery area, noise, dust, vibration, chemical solution, uneven surface.
- Rarely (10%): Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) Exposure Category No Risk for Exposure to BBP.
