About the role

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Newborn Medicine, is seeking a pediatric hospitalist to provide patient care on the Newborn Service at UC San Diego Health Jacobs Medical Center.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Newborn Service
• Supervise the care provided by nurse practitioners, residents, and medical students
• Trainee education
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Contribute to quality improvement projects
• Participation in division/section correspondence and meetings

Requirements

• Board certified with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in general pediatrics
• Prior experience caring for newborns during birth hospitalization, stabilizing sick infants, and neonatal resuscitation

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include:

• Board certified with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in general pediatrics

Skills

Skills include:

• Ability to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call, and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs
• Ability to work 2 weekends days per month and several holidays per year
