Physician, Interventional Radiologist with EDRP and Recruitment/Relocation Incentive

About the role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities

• As a staff radiologist, responsible for all aspects of the Imaging Services throughout the STVHCS.
• Possess sufficient computer skills needed to work with advanced PACs and voice recognition systems.
• Timely interpretation and communication of the imaging results (including entry into digital medical record and verbal notification of critical findings).
• Provide consultation services, comparative reports and participate in clinical conferences/committees as requested by referring physicians.
• Ensure the overall safety of imaging patients, including oversight of contrast administration and response to adverse patient reactions. Review requests and ensure appropriate imaging protocols, preparations and medications have been ordered.
• Assist, train, supervise and mentor radiology residents in the performance of procedures and interpreting studies.
• Provide education and training to members of the medical staff through various conferences, committees and lecture series.
• May be assigned administrative or managerial responsibilities through participation in clinical, educational and administrative committees, task groups or special projects.
• Participate in quality control/quality management (including department and hospital review level peer reviews).

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Fellowship or residency training in interventional radiology.
• Board certified or board eligible in interventional radiology.
• Proficient in multimodality and multi-organ system diagnostic radiology.
• Proficient in teaching and performing IR procedures.
• Physical Requirements: This position may require potentially long periods of continued Moderate lifting of 15-44 pounds, Light carrying under 15 pounds, Straight pulling for 2 hours, Use of fingers, Standing for 4 hours, Both legs required, Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, Both eyes required, Depth perception, Ability to distinguish basic colors, Ability to distinguish shades of colors, Hearing (aid may be permitted), Ability to perform privileges, Mental and emotional stability, Perform independently, Performs physical exam as appropriate to the position, 20/40 correctable near & far vision.
