Physician II/Psychiatrist
PGH is a 123-bed psychiatric facility that serves individuals over the age of 65. We are operated by the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and have been awarded the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval. Located in rural Nottoway County, Virginia, PGH is within a reasonable distance to shopping and entertainment in the metro Richmond area, the Town of Farmville, and the City of Lynchburg.
About the Role
The Staff Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric care to assigned patients and serves as a multidisciplinary treatment team leader. Responsibilities include conducting psychiatric, neurological, and physical assessments; reviewing diagnostic results; and developing and managing individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborates with physicians, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff
- Participates in treatment team meetings
- Consults with internal and external healthcare providers as well as patients’ families or legally authorized representatives regarding patient care
- Maintains accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with established standards
- Provides clinical oversight and consultation to interdisciplinary staff and mid-level providers
- May serve as backup physician coverage when needed
- Participates in medical staff meetings, committees, and other clinical activities that support patient care and program operations
- Contributes to staff education and maintains professional competency through ongoing continuing medical education
Qualifications
- Must possess an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or obtain one prior to the start of employment
- Medical degree and completion of an ACGME-approved psychiatry residency or a psychiatry fellowship prior to the start of employment
- Current DEA controlled Substance registration/licensed or obtain one prior to the start of employment

Hiring Range: $123,326 - $161,762
