Physician (Hospitalist)
DUTIES
Grand Junction VA Medical Center is seeking a Hospitalist. Preference is for a BE/BC internist. New Residency Graduates considered. Family Practitioners with appropriate experience may be eligible for consideration.
A hospitalist physician at Grand Junction VAMC provides coverage for our acute care medical inpatient facility, our Emergency Department, and for our Chronic Living Facility. Our facility, although small, sees the full gamut of acute inpatient medicine care. Daily rounds, inpatient consultation and admitting/discharge responsibilities are components of the Hospitalist position. Grand Junction VAMC serves Veterans living throughout the Grand Valley and a large surrounding geographic region. There are both Telehealth Clinics and a Community Based Outpatient Clinic serve as outreach tools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lifting (35 lbs and over)
- Reaching above shoulder
- Using fingers
- Both hands required
- Walking (up to 3 hours)
- Standing (up to 3 hours)
- Repeated bending (up to 1 hour)
- Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously
- Near vision correctable at 13" to 16"
- Hearing (aid permitted)
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass pre-employment examination.
- Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.
- Background and/or Security Investigation required.
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- Must have a full unrestricted License
- English language proficiency
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Must have a degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Must have a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
PREferred EXPERIENCE
- Two years of practice experience.
