Physician (Hematology/Oncology) - SIGN ON BONUS

About the role

The Kansas City VA Medical Center is recruiting a full-time hematology/oncology physician.

Responsibilities

- Taking history, physical, admission, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, including consultations. - Making assessments of patients presenting with acute care complaints, diseases, and injuries. - Providing consultation for, diagnosing, and treating hematologic diseases. - Administering chemotherapeutic agents to patients with malignancies. - Rounding with residents and fellows on the inpatient ward. - Covering call rotation with other physicians. - Participating in telemedicine services between the main medical center and the various Community Based Outpatient Clinics. - Counseling and advising patients diagnosed with malignancy. - Ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies. - Providing ongoing outpatient care for assigned case load. - Prescribing and refilling medications within the defined scope of practice. - Providing education and counseling of patients and families.

Requirements

- U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. - Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. - Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
