About the role

The University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a full-time Hematology/Oncology Physician to join our expanding, multi-discipline team. This role plays a key role in providing exceptional care to patients with hematologic malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. The candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and advanced practice providers to develop individualized treatment plans. They will also conduct and participate in clinical research, contribute to the advancement of malignant hematology, maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging therapies and clinical trial opportunities, educate and mentor medical students, residents, and provide expert consultation to other healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a partnering team of specialists encompassing 37+ specialty care and hospital-based service lines
  • Provide exceptional care to patients with hematologic malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and advanced practice providers to develop individualized treatment plans
  • Conduct and participate in clinical research, contributing to the advancement of malignant hematology
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging therapies and clinical trial opportunities for patients
  • Educate and mentor medical students, residents
  • Develop strong relationships with patients and their families, providing emotional support and guidance throughout their treatment journey
  • Participate in tumor board meetings and provide expert consultation to other healthcare providers

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board certification in Hematology/Oncology
  • Experience working with culturally diverse patients
  • Familiarity with English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Nepali, and/or Bosnian

  • Strong clinical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of emerging therapies and clinical trial opportunities
